2013 Financial Aid Day

More than 200 participants representing more than two dozen schools came out in force on Feb. 26 to ask legislators for their continued support of student financial aid. Gov. Deval Patrick addressed the crowd, saying: "Putting a college education in reach of all of our students grows jobs and unlocks economic opportunity." |

More than 400 people gathered for AICUM's annual dinner at Boston's Seaport Hotel on Dec. 10, 2012, to celebrate the vital contributions of the independent colleges and universities in Massachusetts. The evening honored U.S. Representative Michael E. Capuano for his consistent commitment to education and to need-based financial aid for college students. The event also celebrated innovation and the life sciences. |

2012 AICUM Annual Meeting Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick gave the keynote address at the 2012 annual meeting of the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in Massachusetts (AICUM). Attended by representatives from 45 AICUM members, including 26 college and university presidents, the meeting was held on May 3 at Boston College. "Education is what we’re best known for in Massachusetts," Patrick said. "Education is the way forward today, and it has been the transformative feature of America." |

2011 AICUM Annual Dinner
AICUM's annual dinner was another smash success, with more than 400 people packing a Seaport Hotel ballroom on Dec. 5, 2011, to celebrate the vital contributions of the independent colleges and universities in Massachusetts. The evening honored the Patrick-Murray Administration for their consistent commitment to need-based financial aid for Massachusetts college students. A special tribute was paid to the visual and performing arts and their importance to the culture and economy of the Commonwealth. |

More than 100 AICUM members representing 35 institutions gathered at the College of the Holy Cross for AICUM’s 4th annual symposium, a half-day of higher ed trends and best practice presentations from AICUM affiliate members. The session topics ranged from financial aid leveraging to student health insurance and campus security. |

Student Financial Aid Day About 150 students and financial aid advocates representing 28 independent colleges and universities across Massachusetts came together at the State House to ask legislators to support funding for need-based financial aid. The day began with greetings from Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo; Co-chair of the Joint Committee on Higher Education Ben Downing, and Representative Marie St. Fleur. Students then fanned out across the State House, meeting with legislators and aides, dropping off thank you cards and home baked cookies courtesy of the Culinary Arts students at Newbury College. |
